This week brought back longtime friends of Untamed. Brian and Scott, who had fished with us at Marié, explored Kendjam’s waters for the first time. Kamsen returned alongside his son Koen and two Canadian companions. Mitch and Hal, returning after their 2022 experience, stepped back into the rhythm of the Iriri.
The river called for accuracy. Low water, bright skies, and selective fish pushed anglers toward tighter casts and thoughtful approaches. Dry flies and streamers drew fewer takes, but when the strike came, it mattered.

UNFORGETTABLE MOMENT
This week at Kendjam delivered some truly unforgettable moments on the water. The highlight was nothing short of historic: Ray landed a massive Bicuda measuring 127 cm (50 inches) — Congratulations to Ray for achieving what will be remembered as one of the lodge’s greatest catches.
Adding to the excitement, Mitch and Hal enjoyed a remarkable session, landing four Peacock Bass over 60 centimeters in a single day. And in a rare and extraordinary moment, Koen managed to take both the top Matrinxã and the best Pacú Borracha of the week — incredibly, at the very same spot.
LOOKING AHEAD
With dry conditions holding and visibility at its peak, the Iriri continues to favor those with a delicate hand and focused approach. The weeks ahead promise more refined presentations, more close-range action, and more moments where jungle and angler align.
