Week 08 welcomed a crew of seasoned saltwater fly anglers to the Iriri for the first time — a group with miles of flats behind them, now stepping into the depth and diversity of jungle fishing. Among them were Nathaniel, of The Angling Company, known for his tournament history and IGFA pursuits, and Benjamin, founder of Any Creek.
There’s always something special about first-time guests — especially those with a sharp eye for reading water and casting with precision. This week became an exchange of experiences, as our guides shared the nuances of the Iriri’s behavior while learning from the technical intuition that only comes from a lifetime of chasing tides.
Despite the first rain of the season, conditions remained excellent for sight fishing. From tight matrinxã rises to the deep pull of wolf fish, every take demanded awareness — and rewarded it in kind.

UNFORGETTABLE MOMENT
A standout catch of the week came from Davison, who landed one of the finest peacock bass of the season. At 62 centimeters, it was a fish that demanded precision and strength, one of the best fish of the season. The fight was intense, the moment pure Kendjam.
LOOKING AHEAD
With water levels continuing to drop and fish becoming more selective, the Iriri is entering a window that rewards precision and presence. The first rains signal a subtle change, but the heart of dry-fly season remains strong. Expect refined presentations, technical drifts, and moments that challenge even the most experienced angler.
