Kendjam Lodge is located near the headwaters of the Iriri River, within the Mekragnoti Indigenous Territory in the Brazilian Amazon. This remote area is approximately 550 miles southeast of Manaus and is accessible only by a three-hour private charter flight, landing directly at the Kendjam Indian Community airstrip.
The Iriri River, a tributary of the Xingu River, flows over 800 miles through protected indigenous lands and ecological reserves, making it one of the most pristine rivers in the southern Brazilian Amazon.
Upon arrival, guests are greeted by the Kayapó community and lodge staff, then embark on a scenic boat journey downstream to the lodge, situated on a sandy beach overlooking a beautiful pool of the Iriri River.
The Iriri River
The Iriri river begins its journey to the jungle on the border of Mato Grosso and the state of Para, and runs into the northeast side of the Brazilian Amazon for more than 800 miles until it meets the Xingu River. It’s the most protected river in the southern Brazilian Amazon, with more than 500 miles inside indigenous lands and ecological reserves.
